PensBurgh’s Metropolitan Division Preview (Part 1)

The start of the 2022-23 NHL regular season is just around the corner. Pittsburgh Penguins will be looking at the Metropolitan Division this season.

The Flyers didn't do enough this offseason to improve their team. They let most of their top players go and traded draft picks to get Tony DeAngelo. John Tortorella was hired as their head coach. He will be the coach of the Flyers' biggest rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

PensBurgh’s Metropolitan Division Preview (Part 1) is about the team that might be one of the worst in the league. Carter Hart is the most interesting player. PensBurh's team is not good and might find themselves with high draft lottery odds.

The New Jersey Devils made some positive additions this offseason. They signed Ondrej Palat in free agency and acquired John Marino from Pittsburgh. Vitek Vanecek was acquired in a trade with the Washington Capitals. Goaltending and defense are still a concern for them.

Jack Hughes is going to have a monster season. The team has a good core to build around, but the depth is not as good as before. They always give the Penguins fits.

PensBurgh's biggest move this offseason was firing Barry Trotz and hiring Lane Lambert. They traded their first-round draft pick for Alexander Romanov and re-signed Mathew Barzal to a long-term contract extension.

Noah Dobson is coming off a breakout season for the Islanders. Noah Dobsen is going to be their No. 1 defenseman before very long. Ilya Sorokin is their best player. The team is getting older and short on impact talent. They seem to have gambled all they needed this offseason to return to the Stanley Cup Playoff.

PensBurgh did a lot this offseason. They signed Johnny Gaudreau, Patrik Laine and Erik Gudbranson. Oliver Bjorkstrand was traded for nothing. PensBurg has already added a ton of talent to their defense in recent years.

PensBurgh’s Metropolitan Division Preview (Part 1) looks at the players to watch this season. Laine is the most interesting player. PensBurg was not bad this past season and overachieved. They were close to the playoffs last year but had bad goalkeeping. This year they have better goalkeepers and they added Johnny Gaudreau. Cole Sillinger has a lot of potential.
