Philadelphia Eagles vs. San Francisco 49ers odds and picks

The Philadelphia Eagles are one win away from the Super Bowl as they take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field.

In Saturday night's divisional-round game, Philadelphia steamrolled the New York Giants in a 38-7 rout in the City of Brotherly Love.

The 49ers took care of business as they defeated the Dallas Cowboys in a low-scoring, defensive-minded 19-12 victory in Santa Clara.

This is the Eagles' eighth NFC title game appearance and seventh since 2002, while San Francisco has reached the conference championship game for the third time in the last four seasons.

Can Philly advance to the Super Bowl for the second time since 2018? Or will the 49ers make their second appearance in the big game since the 2019-20 season? Here are my picks and predictions for the NFC Championship with odds powered by Tipico Sportsbook.

Eagles vs. 49ers Spread: Eagles -2.5 (-116)

Let me start off by saying I was completely wrong about the Eagles and Giants' third and final meeting. I believed the Giants would keep it close with their healthiest roster all season, but Philly covered the -8.5 spread with ease.

Philadelphia is now 6-2 against the spread (ATS) in its last eight playoff games and have covered the spread in seven of 10 home games this season. Although, stats that are not trending in the Eagles' favor is that they are 3-8-1 ATS in their prior 12 after scoring 30 points the game before, and they've failed to cover in four of their previous five against NFC opponents.

Up there with the Giants, San Francisco was one of the best teams against the spread this year. The 49ers went 13-4 ATS and have covered 23 of their last 31 overall. The team has been red hot covering 10 of their last 12 including both games this postseason.

In this matchup, the favorite is 7-3 ATS and the 49ers have not covered in seven of the past 10 games.

Less than a field-goal favorite, lay the -2.5 points with the Eagles now as I anticipate this number going up to at least -3/-3.5 later this week.

Eagles vs. 49ers Over/Under: Under 46 total points (-111)

The under ruled supreme last weekend as all four matchups went below the projected total. It's had an impact as neither of the championship games have a total of more than 48 points.

In their last 16 home playoff games, Philadelphia has hit the under in 12 of them and is 19-7-2 to the under in its past 28 matchups in January. The under has cashed in four of the Eagles' last five overall and in 15 of their previous 21 overall postseason games.

For the 49ers, they've had seven straight road playoff games go under the total, and in five of their last six overall playoff matchups. San Francisco is 11-4 to the under in its last 15 versus an opponent with a winning record.

With two of the best defenses in the NFL, this is my go-to bet of the weekend as I expect we see another strong defensive performance from both teams on Sunday.

Moneyline: Eagles (-145)

After opening as -112 (Bet $112 to win $100) on the moneyline, Philadelphia is already up to -145 and climbing.

While there's no denying the 49ers' 12-game winning streak, San Francisco has not had to play a dual threat QB like Jalen Hurts or as complete of a team as the Eagles over that stretch. You could also argue that Philly has not played the caliber of a defense that the 49ers have.

In this matchup of NFC powerhouses, I believe the Eagles do just enough as they defeat the 49ers to reach Super Bowl LVII.

My Best Bets

Place a bet on the Eagles moneyline (-145), to cover the -2.5 spread (-116) and the under 46 total points scored at -111 on Tipico Sportsbook.
