Phillip's Gameday Musings: Iron Bowl and coaching search

The search for a permanent head coach for the team has been a big topic on social media. The modern landscape requires coaches to be on campus and working when the transfer portal opens Dec. 5 and the first national signing period opens December 21.

Lane Kiffin has been active on Twitter since the loss to Mississippi State.

Auburn is looking for a new coach. Lane Kiffin is the favorite, but he's been behaving in a troubling way. Brian Johnson, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach, is considered a rising star. If Kifflin doesn't get the job, Auburn will turn to Hugh Freeze.   If he doesn’t get it, John Cohen knows where he will go.

When athletics directors go in search of head coaches, they have to look beyond the record. If Ole Miss had made a two-point conversion and beaten Mississippi State or if it had finished off its last drive and won against Alabama, Lane Kiffin would be the same coach today.

Auburn and Williams are playing a game today. The game is a long shot, but the Tigers must be able to successfully run the ball to win.

Tigers need to keep Alabama honest, have no turnovers and force some turnovers to make it a fourth-quarter game.

Ohio State plays Michigan. TCU will try to finish a perfect regular season against Iowa State. LSU will play Texas A&M. USC will face Notre Dame. Clemson will take on South Carolina. Alabama will have an outside chance if it beats Auburn.
