Pistons vs Cavaliers Odds, Spread & Predictions (Mar. 4)

The Cleveland Cavaliers (39-26, 26-7 home) return to Ohio on Saturday for an Eastern Conference affair with the lowly Detroit Pistons (15-48, 7-25 away) who are in the gutter of the conference standings. The tip-off is set for 7:30 pm ET at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Find the Pistons vs Cavaliers odds below.

Detroit is losers of six-straight games and just 1-9 in their last 10 contests, falling to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. The Cavs are also coming off a defeat despite Donovan Mitchell’s 44 points, as the Boston Celtics proved to be too much.

Pistons vs Cavaliers Odds

Cleveland is a heavy 11.5-point favorite in the NBA odds and has covered in 54.8% of their games in 2022-23. The Cavs’ moneyline odds come in at -600. Detroit sits at +450 and owns a 15-15-2 record as an ATS underdog. Mitchell and Co. are unbeaten in four meetings against the Pistons, including three wins this season.

Losing Ways Continue in Detroit

It’s been yet another underwhelming season in Motown as the Pistons have the second-worst record in the entire Association. The rebuild is evidently still in full effect which means the chances of landing Victor Wembanyama remain high. Despite the rough campaign, there are a few bright spots.

Bojan Bogdanovic is a certified bucket, Jaden Ivey profiles to be a key piece of the backcourt, and Jalen Duren is an absolute force down low. Plus, Cade Cunningham will be back in 2023-24 after suffering a season-ending foot injury just 12 games in.

Detroit managed to give Chicago a run for their money on Wednesday, losing by just one possession. A massive fourth quarter where they outscored the Bulls 29-16 was almost enough to pull off the comeback, but the Pistons fell just short. Bogdanovic erupted for 34 points, while Ivey added 18.

Cavs Need to Find Consistency

While Cleveland does sit in fourth place in the NBA Playoff Bracket, they’re one of the streakiest teams in the NBA as we’ve seen all season long. The Cavs will go on a winning run and then just go ice-cold. Right now, JB Bickerstaff’s squad is in a rut, losing four of their last five outings.

Wednesday’s game against the C’s was a stern test for a Cleveland team with championship aspirations. However, they failed to come out on the winning end. A sloppy third period where the Cavaliers were outscored 41-26 proved to be costly, with Jayson Tatum scoring 18 of his 41 points in that quarter.

Mitchell showed out with a 44-piece while Darius Garland also collected 29 and dished out nine dimes. There was limited help around the backcourt duo though, with only two others in double-figures when it came to scoring. Needless to say, the rest of the rotation has to contribute a lot more offensively.

On a more positive note, Cleveland did almost come back from a 107-94 deficit with five minutes to play and showed guts down the stretch.

Pistons vs Cavaliers Prediction

11.5 points is a lot, but Bogdanovic is sidelined Saturday with an Achilles injury. That’s Detroit’s best scorer unavailable. That being said, the Cavs should be able to take advantage and grab a big win.
