Pistons vs Hawks Prediction

The Detroit Pistons travel to the State Farm Arena to do battle with the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night.

The Detroit Pistons have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 14 of their last 15 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game slide after getting routed by the Heat in a 112-100 loss on Sunday. James Wiseman led the team with 22 points and 13 rebounds on 10 of 13 shooting, Cory Joseph added 16 points off the bench while Killian Hayes chipped in with 13 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 34 points in the third quarter to erase a halftime deficit and take the lead, only to get blown out by 38-19 in the fourth quarter to allow the Heat off the hook in the end.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a funk as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back here after getting beaten by the lowly Spurs in a 126-118 loss on Sunday. Dejounte Murray led the team with 22 points, six rebounds and eight assists, Onyeka Okongwu added 17 points off the bench while Clint Capela and AJ Griffin scored 15 points apiece. As a team, the Hawks shot 47 percent from the field and just five of 22 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in full control when they exploded for 83 points in the half to lead by 24 points, only to get run down in the second half where they got outscored by 65-35 to suffer their worst loss of the season. Trae Young had a night to forget as he scored just nine points on four of 15 shooting to go along with five turnovers.

Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400 and 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a losing road record.

Head to head, the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings overall and the over is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings in Atlanta.

The Pistons are still missing Isaiah Stewart, Isaiah Livers and Jalen Duren and they are also keeping an eye on RJ Hampton who is questionable. The Hawks could also be shorthanded here as Dejounte Murray is listed as questionable due to a non-covid illness. You really couldn’t back either team with much confidence as the Pistons have been ice-cold lately, while the Hawks just blew a 24-point lead against the slumping Spurs in their last outing. This is a game I’d rather stay away from, but if I had to choose, I’d reluctantly side with the Hawks get the much-needed win in this spot to make up for their poor performance on Sunday.
