Pistons vs. Raptors prediction and odds for Sunday, Feb. 12 (Can you trust Toronto?)

The Toronto Raptors are looking to make a run at a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, especially after they stood pat at the trade deadline, adding Jakob Poeltl to their roster instead of selling.

Entering Sunday’s matchup with the Detroit Pistons, the Raptors are just half a game out of the No. 10 seed in the East. They still have a long way to go to make the playoffs, but the path is there.

Detroit has climbed out of the bottom of the East, moving into the No. 14 seed after the Charlotte Hornets lost their seventh straight game on Saturday.

The Pistons are still in the sweepstakes for the No. 1 overall pick, and they’re massive underdogs in this game even though they’re coming off a win.

Toronto is still down OG Anunoby (wrist) while the Pistons have listed newcomer James Wiseman as questionable for this game.

I don’t love laying a ton of points with this inconsistent Raptors team, but I’m going to because I was burned by another bad team (the San Antonio Spurs) in a similar spot yesterday.

The Pistons are downright awful this season, ranking 27th in offensive rating, 29th in defensive rating and 28th in net rating. With Cade Cunningham (shin) done for the season, the Pistons are in full-on tank mode.

Toronto has something to play for, and the front office showed confidence in this roster at the deadline. The Raps are actually decent as home favorites this season, going 13-10 against the spread.

Detroit is one of the worst road teams in the NBA (7-21 straight up), and it is losing games as a road dog by an average margin of 9.0 points.

It’s asking a lot from Toronto to cover this number, but the Pistons have been blown out on several occasions lately, losing games by 28, 12 and 16 this month alone.
