Premier League Matchday 21 Odds, Picks & Predictions (2023)

We’re now just a few weeks away from the halfway point of the 2022-23 EPL season, as the 2022 FIFA World Cup is now just a distant memory.

Premier League Matchday 21 Preview & Best Bets (2023)

With the great matches on the pitch all over England this week, let’s take a closer look at the two matches I’m dialed in on.

Southampton (+185) vs. Aston Villa (+145)

With three straight victories across all leagues, the Southampton Saints might be starting their march towards Premier League security. Although their 2-1 success over Everton was their first league victory since beating Bournemouth on October 19th, when combined with victories over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup and Manchester City in the Carabao Cup, you might be able to convince yourself that they are beginning to turnaround.

This Saturday, when they host an Aston Villa team that is experiencing its own revival under Unai Emery, we will get a proper test of that hypothesis. While it may be tempting to support Villa, Southampton has recently demonstrated just enough to make them a possible liability in this situation, and there is value in the total goals market as I see it.

The Saints have only failed to score once in their last 10 games, while Villa has not been held scoreless since October. With a modest bias on the over, the game here appears to be one of these teams winning by a score of at least one, with both teams scoring once.

West Ham (-130) vs. Everton (+390)

Two teams in big-time slides face off this week in London, as pressure is on now for both managers to be on the hot seat.

You can see why Frank Lampard is under pressure given that Everton’s most recent victory in the Premier League was in late October and their most recent friendly triumph was in November against lowly Western Sydney Wanderers.

David Moyes’ situation is similar, despite the fact that he did at least taste triumph in the FA Cup earlier this month. However, their league performance has put them in a precarious position, given their previous victory in this competition occurred the same weekend as the Toffees. Even with West Ham’s occasionally meager attack, they’ve scored in all five games since the Premier League resumed, and given their current form, it has every potential of doing so once more.

I like for West Ham to win a boring 1-0 match.
