Premier League Permutations: Relegation scrap and top-four latest

We’re at the business end of the Premier League season and a couple of key battles at both ends of the table are set to be decided in the final week.

The title is done and dusted after Manchester City clinched the crown in the most underwhelming of circumstances after Arsenal lost at Nottingham Forest, while Champions League qualification appears to be settled with Newcastle and Manchester United set to finish in the top four. Liverpool and Brighton are destined for the Europa League which leaves three clubs scrapping it out for the Europa Conference League.

Meanwhile, two out of three strugglers will sink into the Championship after the likes of Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves pulled themselves well clear of the relegation zone to deny fans a Royal Rumble style scrap to avoid the drop.

The latest Premier League odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise permutations for the title race, top-four battle and relegation scrap are below.

TITLE

Manchester City clinched the Premier League title after Arsenal lost to Nottingham Forest in last Saturday’s teatime tie.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Manchester City and Arsenal have already qualified for next season’s Champions League.

Newcastle will guarantee their return to the Champions League if they earn one point from their last two Premier League fixtures.

Manchester United will qualify for the Champions League if they also earn one point from their last two Premier League fixtures.

Liverpool will qualify for the Champions League if they win their last Premier League fixture and Newcastle or Manchester United lose their remaining two games and the goal difference is in their favour.

Europa League and Europa Conference League

Liverpool have guaranteed a place in next season’s Europa League.

Brighton will also confirm their spot in next season’s Europa League if they earn one point from their remaining two fixtures.

Aston Villa are the only other team with a chance of qualifying for the Europa League, although they need to Brighton on the final day of the season and hope the Seagulls lose to Manchester City on Wednesday in addition to a 16-goal swing.

Unai Emery’s side will guarantee a place in the Europa Conference League if they win their remaining game.

RELEGATION

Leicester, Leeds and Everton are the only teams in mathematical danger of Premier League relegation with two spots left to fill.

Leicester will secure their Premier League status if they win their remaining games against Newcastle and West Ham. The Foxes will lose control over their future if they fail to beat the Magpies tonight, however.

Everton will retain their place in the Premier League if they beat Bournemouth in their last game of the season and Leicester fail to win their remaining fixtures.

Leeds will be relegated if they fail to beat Tottenham on the final day of the season. The Whites also need Everton to draw or lose to Bournemouth and Leicester to claim three points or fewer from their last two games.

Southampton were relegated from the Premier League after losing to Fulham in early May.
