Premier League 2023/24 odds after Aston Villa qualify for Europe

Birmingham Live

It would appear the bookies are not expecting Aston Villa to improve on this season's Premier League finish in 2023-24.

Villa claimed seventh place this term to qualify for the Europa Conference League after an impressive turnaround under head coach Unai Emery. They secured a return to Europe thanks to a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Villa Park in their final game of the campaign on Sunday.

Brighton ended up sixth having already qualified for the Europa League, along with fifth-placed Liverpool. Newcastle United, Manchester United and runners-up Arsenal will all be playing Champions League football next season, along with champions Manchester City.

And no sooner had the 2022-23 campaign finished, the bookmakers were setting up the markets for 2023-24. They are clearly anticipating better showings from Chelsea and Tottenham, with Villa ninth favourite to win the title at odds of 200/1, according to Sky Bet. That is compared to Brighton at 66/1 and Spurs at 40/1.

Meanwhile, you can get odds of 8/1 on Villa to finish in the top four, and they are 4/7 to finish inside the top half. For the pessimists among us, Emery's side are 11/1 to be relegated back to the Championship.
