Premier League predictions: Gameweek 17

The Premier League returns on Boxing Day. The 20 clubs signed off for domestic duty in the middle of November. They will be in action in three days that follow Christmas.

Brighton beat Chelsea, Wolves and Arsenal in October and November. They lost to Aston Villa in their last league game. Newcastle are expected to lose to Leicester.

Aston Villa will hope to take advantage of Liverpool's injury problems. Southampton hope Virgil van Dijk will be back on Monday evening.

Arsenal haven't won the Premier League title since the 2007/08 season. Arsenal could go eight points clear of Manchester City if they win the London derby at home. Aston Villa and Liverpool are going to play a 1-1 draw in Gameweek 17.

Chelsea lost three consecutive Premier League games before the mid-season break. Arsenal are predicted to beat West Ham 3-1 in Gameweek 17.

Manchester United haven't played Nottingham Forest since 1999. The game finished 8-1 and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored four goals as a substitute.

Manchester United are predicted to beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in Gameweek 17. Manchester City are expected to lose to Leeds two days later.
