Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runner-by-runner guide and draw

A maximum of 20 horses are registered for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday. The winner of the race will be awarded €5,000,00. Aidan O‘Brien's Luxembourg and Broome will represent Ireland, while Alpinista and Westover will lead the British charge.

Torquator Tasso is aiming to become the second back-to-back winner of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. The home nation has representatives including three-year-old pair Onesto and Vadeni. Titleholder is the standout of the Japanese contenders.

William Buick was beaten in the Irish Champion Stakes by 3 lengths. John Gosden's horse won the Juddmonte International at York last term.

Frankie Dettori won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last year. He was beaten by Mendocino in the King George at Ascot in July.

Bubble Gift finished 7th in Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud last time. Bauyrzhan Murzabayev rode him to Prix Ganay success in June.

Francis-Henri Graffard's colt was runner-up in last season's French Derby and finished fifth in this race 12 months ago. Mickael Barzalona's horse won the Champion Stakes at Newmarket on final appearance of 2021.

Twice placed in Group 1s last season, but notched first success at the highest level when taking the Tattersalls Gold Cup at Curragh in May.

Yoga Kawada is the jockey for Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He has been beaten twice by Titleholder in his native Japan this season.

Christophe Lemaire is the jockey for trainer Yoshito Yahagi. Christophe won a Group 2 at Deauville last time. Yahagai was 9 lengths adrift of Titleholder on home soil in Japan prior to that.

Jim Crowley rode a winning horse in a Sandown Group 3 during the spring. He also won the September Stakes at Kempton last month.

Rene Piechulek finished second to Alpinista in the Grosser Preis von Bayern on final start of 2021. He has come up short in 4 previous starts on these shores.

Kazuo Yokoyama won the Japanese St Leger last October. He has won 3-3 this season.

Olivier Peslier won the Prix Niel over C&D last September. He finished eighth in the next renewal the following month.

Maxime Guyon rides for Gianluca Bietolini. Maxime went close in the Prix de l’Opera last season and twice successful at around 1¼m here during the spring. She failed to land a meaningful blow in Prix Vermeille last month.

Top-class mare won Yorkshire Oaks in August. She is trained by Sir Mark Prescott. Luke Morris rides her.

Christophe Soumillon won the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly in June and beat Mishriff in the Eclipse at Sandown. He was seen to best behind Luxembourg and Onesto at Leopardstown last time.

Cristian Demuro is the third jockey in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Cristian finished fourth to Vadeni in Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly in June.

Stephane Pasquier finished fifth to Vadeni in the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly in June. He has since won the C&D Grand Prix de Paris and chased Luxembourg home in Irish Champion Stakes.

Frankel colt finished third in the Derby at Epsom in June. He was dominant in Irish equivalent later that month. Frankel was disappointing in King George on his latest start.

Yasuo Tomomichi's horse won the Japanese Derby in May. Yutaka Take finished fourth in the C&D Prix Niel after a four-month break.

Ryan Moore rides Aidan O'Brien's 3-year-old at Longchamp on Sunday. Aidian O’Brien has won both starts since returning to action in August. Ryan Moore won the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is on Sunday, March 25th.
