The hosts sit second in the group with six points after four games and will be eyeing all three points against Newcastle to boost their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages. Luis Enrique’s men are in fine form, having won seven of their last eight games in all competitions while scoring three or more goals in all seven wins.
As for Newcastle, it has been hard to balance the Premier League and the Champions League with the number of injuries they currently have. Having lost two of their last three Champions League games, the Magpies currently sit bottom of the group with four points and nothing other than a win is needed here if they are to have any chance of qualifying for the knockouts. PSG -0.5, -1.0 asian handicap
PSG have been incredibly impressive at the Parc Des Princes in recent weeks, winning six games in a row in all competitions and scoring a huge 20 goals in the process and conceding just two.
They are excelling at both ends of the pitch, having kept a clean sheet in five of those six wins. Despite the two losses in this competition away from home, they have won both their home games 3-0 and 2-0 against AC Milan and Dortmund respectively.
Newcastle did manage to beat them earlier this season but the circumstances are much different this time around as the English side have 10 players out injured with a further two doubtful. Their bench against Chelsea at the weekend included three goalkeepers which goes to show the situation they find themselves in at the moment. Furthermore, they have been poor on their travels in Europe as they are yet to score a single goal having lost 2-0 to Dortmund and drawn 0-0 against AC Milan in a game they were incredibly lucky to not concede as the Italians dominated the game for the whole 90 minutes.
Having played a demanding game at the weekend against Chelsea, I believe they will struggle against the French Champions so the “-0.5, -1.0” asian handicap for the home side makes a lot of sense where half of our stakes will be on their win and the other half will be refunded if they win by one goal and returned as a winner if they win by two or more goals. This will be our main bet for this crucial clash with a 1pt stake on it.
Mbappe to Score & Joelinton to be Carded
Following on from our main bet where I expect PSG to win, their biggest attacking threat will be Kylian Mbappe who has scored an insane 14 league goals with their second topscorer having scored just three goals all season. This just goes to show how important he is for the French outfit and he will be on penalties too. His Champions League campaign has been underwhelming so far with just two goals in four games but having scored four goals in his last two league games, he will be confident of hitting the back of the net here in this all important clash.
As for Joelinton, he is averaging the most fouls per game in the Newcastle squad in both the Premier League (1.9) and the Champions League (2.0). He was booked at the weekend against Chelsea and has a tendency of going in hard with his tackles. Up against a deadly PSG attack, I expect him to mistime one of these tackles and pick up a yellow card. Combining these two selections gives us a cracking bet builder @ 23/5 and we will take that as our second bet for this game with a small 0.25pt stake.
