Punter denied £1,000 payout after bookies claim 40-1 bet was 'a mistake'

Phil Worthington, 72, placed a bet in January at Coral shop. He correctly predicted Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea to finish in the top three in last season's Premier League and also picked Norwich, Watford and Burnley to be relegated. Coral refused to pay up because the bet was placed 'by mistake'. Coral said the information printed in The Sun was incomplete and therefore inaccurate. It calculated the price to settle the customer's bet. It would have meant £50 but Mr Worhington refused. The pensioner has been back to Coral three times since.
