Queensland Oaks: David Vandyke reduced to tears as he hails Gypsy Goddess’ victory the highlight of his career

Gypsy Goddess won the Group 1 Queensland Oaks at Eagle Farm. David Vandyke was in the depths of a drug addiction and was living in his car in Sydney. Vandalke moved to the Sunshine State in 2016. Willie Pike won his first Group One since permanently relocating from Perth to Sydney and it was his best ride. Mornington trainer Jerome Hunter fell just short of winning his second Group1. Barb Raider was the second favourite. She was beaten by Gypsy Godstard. The winner was a filly called Yankee Rose. It was Vadoke's career highlight. He had won two Group-1s before with Yankee and once with Alligator Blood.
