Race day preview, best bets and inside mail for Nowra

Joseph/Jones alliance will use Sunday’s Nowra meeting to take the wrapping off one of the stable's brightest 2023 prospects - Peak Contributer. The unraced three-year-old was brought over from New Zealand on a one-way ticket and bought for $65,000. Peak contributor is a son of Godolphin”s esteemed Ranvet Stakes winner Contributers. Jones is also bullish about the weekend prospects of Dundeel son Cider Bite who has reached a level of performance that could see him win for a second time within three starts on Sunday. Ciders Bite has won once in his 17 starts.

Lim's Synergy is the son of Smart Missile.

Peak Contributer is the son of Contributor. Peak contributor won a trial at Canberra on December 30. Nowra's race is at 1400m.

Vella Fox won the race at Moruya.

Tyler Schiller has a 22% win strike rate for Mark Newnham and 23% for all trainers at Nowra.

Vella Fox finished second on either side of his own maiden win at Moruya. Lily Elsie ran some slick last splits to finish where she did at Wyong on Christmas Eve.

Peak Contributer makes his debut in Race 2. Nick Olive trained filly Howling Victory is working her way towards a win. Trianon is bred on a 4X4 cross of Zabeel.

Lady Tabloid is another of the Nick Olive and Jeff Penza's horses that they share a chance at Nowra on Sunday. Penzas has ridden the daughter of Press Statement four times for a win and three placings. Cider Bite has won just 1 from 17 starts, but she has a better record at this race.

Send Me A Legend is a Peter Robl trained gelding by Written Tycoon bred by Keith Biggs. Parrying is fast, on-pacer who should get his chance to race where he is most impactful. Waikato Flyer is the big market watch.

Lim's Synergy is a promising young son of Smart MIssile from a great Gooree family. Pennypacker has the benefit of race experience having finished runner-up in two of his starts. Fenton was bred by Scott Seamer and has been consistent throughout.

Star Mission is an underrated horse. Hide Your Heart is a major contender if she comes. Summer In Siam and I Am The Empire have accepted elsewhere. Tip Top Timing has raced at this track/trip three times for a win and a third.

Amberina is a grey filly trained by Mark Newnham. Amberina finished sixth at Gosford first-up. Rebel Love has more talent than the average maiden. Fooled Again is the value runner if she makes it post time.
