Race track approved in Boyd County
The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission approved the license for horse racing in the Commonwealth for a track in Boyd County. The track is expected to bring $55 million in investment and 200 permanent jobs. It will be the only quarter horse race track and one of the furthest east in America. There will also be 400 historical horse-racing machines in an old Sears building. Jason Camp, owner of Camp Landing, was a vocal critic of this. He said it would not jive with the family atmosphere of Malibu Jack's, an arcade and indoor amusement park. The handle of bets made on HHRs was $4.6 billion in 2021.
