Patrick Moloney has won a group 1 race for the first time. He beat The Astrologist and September Run in the Newmarket Handicap at Flemington. The trifecta paid an astonishing $93,200.30 on the best of three totes. Molony is celebrating with his fiancé Jess and his family. The win denied Fred Kerlsey his maiden group one win on The astrologer. Home Affairs finished ninth. Masked Crusader came seventh. Lost And Running finished 14th. Edward Cummings' Duais won the Australian Cup at Flemington on Saturday. The late Bart Cummings won it a record 13 times. Edward had only won one group 1 race before in last year's Queensland Oaks with the then three-year-old filly. Spanish Mission came third. The Melbourne Cup placegetter Spanish mission came in third place. Think It Over's jockey Nash Rawiller was proud of his efforts.
