Rangers' chances of catching Celtic rated with Philippe Clement odds-on to deliver first season silverware

PHILIPPE CLEMENT will know he has to get used to life in Glasgow fairly quickly.

And with the Light Blues trailing Celtic by seven points in the Premiership, Clement can't afford too much time to get used to his new surroundings.

So how likely is he to bring success back to the supporters in the stands at Ibrox?

Betfair have him odds-on to win ANY of the competitions they are currently involved in this season at 2/9.

Rangers find themselves in the semi-final of the Viaplay League Cup were they will face Hearts at Hampden Park next month.

And the bookies are convinced Clement can clinch the first piece of silverware of the season.

Catching up to Brendan Rodgers' men in the league title race will be tricky though, with odds at 11/4 for Rangers to be sitting in first place come the end of the season.

The odds are 3/1 to wager on the Ibrox club not picking up any trophies this season, and 500/1 for them to win all three domestic competitions as well as the Europa League.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “New Rangers manager Philippe Clement will be hoping to turn around the fortunes of his new club as quickly as possible having taken over from Michael Beale on Sunday.

"The Gers, who are seven points behind Glasgow rivals Celtic, are tipped at 11/4 to win the SPFL in 2023/24.

“Clement’s new club are odds-on at 2/7 to win any of the four trophies on offer this campaign, while a domestic treble in his first season is priced at 12/1.”

Clement has been without a job since leaving Monaco at the end of last season.

Upon his Rangers appointment, he said: “I am honoured to have been appointed as the new manager of Rangers and I’d like to thank the board for giving me this opportunity.

"I am hugely excited by this chance to achieve success at one of Europe’s most iconic clubs across four competitions in what remains of this season and beyond.

"I am looking forward to meeting with the players in the coming days and to meeting our supporters at next Saturday’s home match with Hibernian, as we set out together to create a successful, winning Rangers.”
