The Premier League season starts on Boxing Day. The World Cup has been taking over for the last six weeks. This list ranks the top 20 players of the season so far. The list also includes honorable mentions.

The Premier League table for 2022-23 is being prepared. The list of players who have impressed so far this season is as follows: Aaron Ramsdale, Alexis Mac Allister, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Gabriel Martinelli, Nick Pope, Phil Foden, Thomas Partey, Joelinton, Fabian Schar, Joao Cancelo, Wifried Zaha, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Ben White, Lisandro Martinez, Roberto Firmino and Pierre Emerick-Ajbjerg are the other players to make the list.

Arsenal and Manchester City are looking like title contenders. Erling Haaland is the star player of the season. Newcastle, Tottenham and Man United are in the relegation scrap. Liverpool have improved and will be back in Champions League. Chelsea are struggling.

Newly promoted Nottingham Forest moved off the bottom of the table with a win before the break. Wolves and Southampton occupy the other two relegation places. Leicester have picked up a few big wins, while West Ham, Everton and Leeds are within a points of relegation.

Everton and Wolves are bottom of the Premier League table. They meet on Boxing Day at Goodison Park. The match will be shown live on Peacock Premium at 10 am ET.

The season starts at 10 am ET on Monday, Dec. 26.

Julen Lopetegui was confirmed as Wolves' new manager after Bruno Lage was fired. He won the Europa League at Sevilla and is set to make his Premier League debut on Boxing Day. Everton's manager Frank Lampard is under pressure after a poor start to the season.

James Garner is out injured and Andros Townsend is injured. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is doubtful and Mason Holgate is hurt.

Pedro Neto, Sasa Kalajdzic, Jonny, Chiquinho and Boubacar Traore are injured.

This week's Premier League results are difficult to pick. Jose Mourinho prefers not to comment on his team's performance. The results could be wildly off depending on who comes out of the gates fresh, firing, and/or faded.

Andy moves ahead of Joe and Nick by a win after all three men fall victim to a weird week over a month ago.

Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest is kick-off at 3 pm ET Tuesday.

Aston Villa and Liverpool meet on Boxing Day at Villa Park. The match will be shown live on USA Network and online via NBCSports.com. Liverpool had a disastrous first half of the season, but they are now in 6th place. Aston Villa won just 2 of 11 games and are currently 12th in the table.

Roberto Firmino is enjoying a renaissance season at Liverpool. He is the top scorer with seven goals, followed by Mohamed Salah (6), Darwin Nunez (5) and Emery (3). Sadio Mane left for Bayern Munich in the summer. Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota suffered injuries. Emerys appointment marked a turning point for the club.

Philippe Coutinho and Diego Carlos are injured for Aston Villa. Emiliano Martinez is doubtful and Robin Olsen is injured.

Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Curtis Jones, Arthur Melo and Trent Alexander-Arnold are injured for Liverpool. Virgil van Dijk is doubtful.
