Raptors at Cavaliers Prediction

The Raptors and the Cleveland Cavaliers collide at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Sunday night.

The Toronto Raptors have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their past eight games and they will be gunning for a fifth straight victory after sneaking past the Pistons in a 95-91 road win yesterday afternoon. Pascal Siakam led the team with 29 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Gary Trent Jr. added 19 points while Scottie Barnes chipped in with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Raptors were off their game as they shot just 37 percent from the field and seven of 26 from the 3-point line, but they hung in the contest and were finally able to use a little 8-2 run to pull away in the fourth quarter and escape with the gritty win.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers look to have cooled off from their seven-game win streak as they are now hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after getting routed by the Hawks in a 136-119 road loss on Friday. Darius Garland led the team with 33 points on 11 of 19 shooting, Donovan Mitchell added 19 points while Jarrett Allen chipped in with 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Hawks from the start and were never in the contest after allowing an unforgivable 81 points in the first half.

Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games playing on zero days rest and 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record.  The Cavaliers are 11-2-1 ATS in their last 14 Sunday games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.

Head to head, the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Cleveland, the Raptors are 3-11 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Cleveland and the Raptors are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.

The Raptors are shorthanded again as Otto Porter Jr and Fred VanVleet are both in the injury report, while the Cavaliers are coming into this one at full health again. The Raptors have been flying under the radar lately as they’ve quietly won seven of their last eight games, while the Cavaliers have gone cold with three straight losses. The Cavaliers hold the edge in betting trends as the Raptors are only 3-11 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Cleveland, but the Raptors are clearly the team in better form at the moment. It’s tempting to take the Raptors in this spot, but they are playing their second game of a back to back set and I think the Cavaliers come out swinging after playing so poorly on Friday.
