Pistons vs Raptors Prediction

The Detroit Pistons invade the Scotiabank Arena to battle the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.

The Detroit Pistons have been in terrible form as they’ve lost 15 of their last 16 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a four-game slide after getting thrashed by the Hawks in a 129-107 road loss on Tuesday. Marvin Bagley led the team with 31 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, Killian Hayes added 21 points with six assists while Jaden Ivey chipped in with 17 points and five assists. As a team, the Pistons shot just 40 percent from the field and 13 of 40 from the 3-point line as they leaked 38 points in the first quarter to fall behind early, before they scored just 19 points in the third quarter to see the deficit balloon to 29 points at one stage.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in a real funk as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after coming up short against the Pacers in a 118-114 loss on Wednesday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 31 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists on 11 of 17 shooting, Fred VanVleet added 28 points with 11 assists while Jakob Poeltl chipped in with 23 points on 10 of 12 shooting. As a team, the Raptors shot just 43 percent from the field and seven of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sloppy start and had to claw their way back from a 13-point deficit, only to allow the Pacers to pour in 35 points in the fourth quarter to snatch the game from them in a close finish.

Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 0-4 ATS in their last four road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Raptors are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.

Head to head, the over is 22-8-1 in the last 31 meetings in Toronto, the Pistons are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Toronto and the Pistons are 9-0 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.

The Pistons are shorthanded again as Rodney McGruder, Alec Burks and Bojan Bogdanovic are all out, while the Raptors are keeping eyes on Gary Trent Jr and Scottie Barnes who are both questionable for this one. The Pistons have been the coldest team in the league as they’ve won just one of their last 16 games, but they are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Toronto and 9-0 ATS in the last nine meetings overall. I expect the Raptors to get the much-needed win after dropping their last two, but the line is just too hefty, so I’ll take the Pistons to get a backdoor cover here.
