Ravens vs. Steelers: Odds, predictions, props and best bets

The Week 18 NFL slate starts on Saturday in Maryland with an AFC North clash between the Baltimore Ravens (13-3) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7). While the Ravens have already locked up the conference’s top seed, the Steelers seek their own postseason berth.

Considering Baltimore has nothing to play for, top Pennsylvania sportsbooks favor Pittsburgh in this matchup and the 36.5 total makes it one of the lowest among all Week 18 contests.

Pittsburgh enters Week 18 with several potential avenues into the postseason. The team looks to win on Sunday, but they still need to get some help. A Steelers win, coupled with either a Buffalo Bills loss in Miami or a Jacksonville Jaguars loss in Tennessee would do the trick. Other scenarios exist that feature games ending in ties. The Steelers enter 3-0 both straight up and against the spread in their last three trips to Baltimore.

Although quarterback Kenny Pickett appears ready to return to action, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced Mason Rudolph will start the regular season finale against the Ravens. Rudolph has buoyed Pittsburgh’s playoff hopes by leading the Steelers to two straight victories as the starting quarterback. Rudolph will need to be careful with the ball, as Pittsburgh enters 1-5 when its quarterback throws an interception. The Ravens have intercepted the third-most passes this year (18).

The Ravens dismantled a potential AFC contender with their 56-19 win over the Miami Dolphins. That win clinched the conference’s top seed for Baltimore and earned the club a much-needed first-round bye. As such, the Ravens enter this rivalry game without much to play for.

Tyler Huntley likely gets the nod for the Ravens in this one, as an injury to MVP candidate Lamar Jackson would torpedo Baltimore’s Super Bowl hopes. Huntley holds a 1-2 record as a starter against the Steelers, throwing for an average of 119.7 passing yards per game with one touchdown and four interceptions in those games. He, like Jackson, represents a dual threat at quarterback, which could challenge this injury-plagued Pittsburgh defense.

The Ravens have seen the over hit in five of their eight home games this season, but it’s unlikely their offensive stars will see field time on Sunday. That said, the Steelers have put up 64 points with Mason Rudolph as their quarterback the last two weeks and Baltimore can only sit so many guys.

The Steelers need to win this game for their shot at making the postseason, so expect the best players to have the biggest opportunities. Steelers stars Najee Harris and George Pickens combined for 253 rushing and receiving yards in Pittbrugh’s 30-23 win over the Seahawks last week, and a similar effort this week might help punch that playoff ticket.
