Reds Opening Day preview 2022
The Reds have had a very active Spring Training. Several players have been traded or moved out. The team will open the season on the road for the first time since 1990.
Reds have a young rotation with three rookies and a second-year pitcher behind Opening Day starter Tyler Mahle. Top prospect Hunter Greene will be appointment viewing every time he pitches. Team MVP will probably be Joey Votto. He has two guaranteed years remaining on his contract and is motivated to keep producing numbers. He is willing to sacrifice his batting average to take more chances with pitchers and draw on power. His barrel rate per plate appearance ranked ninth in MLB at 10.5 percent. Last season, he hit seven straight games with a homer. The team has only a 3 1/2-week camp.
