Rockets at Memphis, Feb. 14: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

The Rockets (24-29) ended their four-game overall losing streak with Monday’s last-second home victory over the New York Knicks.

Now, in their final game before the NBA’s 2024 All-Star break, Houston will try to do something that’s proven much more difficult throughout the 2023-24 season. That task is winning on the road.

The good news is that Wednesday’s game is at injury ravaged Memphis, and the Rockets are 3-0 versus the Grizzlies this season.

Wednesday’s game starts at 7 p.m. Central and can be seen on the Space City Home Network and NBA League Pass.

Advice and prediction

The Rockets are just 5-20 away from Houston this season, and they’ve lost their last five consecutive road contests, overall. That slippage is a big part of why their odds of a Western Conference play-in tournament push have significantly declined in recent weeks.

The upside is that Wednesday’s opponent is Houston’s best opportunity in some time to reverse that trend. The Grizzlies (18-36) enter with nine straight losses, and key players like Morant and Bane are among those sidelined. On paper, it’s a game the Rockets sorely need to get before a challenging six-game stretch (Suns three times, Thunder twice, Pelicans, four of six on road) out of the All-Star break.

Houston should have every incentive to take care of business here.

Prediction: Rockets 112, Grizzlies 107
