Royal Ascot Chesham Stakes top tip: Golden Mind primed to step up after maiden success

It’s the final day at Royal Ascot, and there’s plenty of betting options in the opening race, so hopefully Tipstrr’s pundits can give us a nudge in the right direction to get the day off to a flyer.

14:30 Chesham Stakes (Listed) (7 furlongs)

This seven-furlong race for two-year-olds has produced four winning favourites in the last seven years, which makes last year's result something of an anomaly.

With the short-priced market leader back in sixth, Holloway Boy won at juicy odds of 40/1, with the second and third places taken by 80/1 and 33/1 shots to give the bookies a flying start to day five.

There's plenty of decent jockeys on board apparent outsiders here, so a winner emerging from the bottom of the market should not come as a surprise, although Ryan Moore would probably argue that point as he pilots early market leader Pearls And Rubies.

The favourite's short price ensures that the rest of the field would all earn each-way profit with a frame finish, and that brings Richard Fahey's Golden Mind into the reckoning.

A half-brother to Perfect Power, who won here in 2021 and 2022, Golden Mind finished an encouraging close-up third over five furlongs on debut at Hamilton six weeks ago, and he quickly confirmed that promise by leaving nine rivals in his wake over six furlongs at Leicester 25 days ago.

He is given another furlong to negotiate here, but the way he kept strongly on to nick the lead by a neck in the final strides suggests this will suit and put him in good stead to at least make one of the four each-way places that are readily available.
