Royal Ascot Festival Day 5 Tips: Izzy Phillips provides you with a selection of tips for Day 5 of Royal Ascot 2023

Sadly the pinnacle event of the flat racing season is almost over, our tipster Izzy once again has provided us with tips for each day of the festival and makes her final four selections for your perusal for Royal Ascot day 5, starting with a 10/1 pick in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes.

Please note odds are subject to change.

15:05 Jersey Stakes (Group 3)

Selection: Olivia Maralda

She didn’t disgrace herself in the 1000 Guineas on her seasonal reappearance and has since followed up with a good win at Epsom. 7f really seems to bring out the best in her and she re-opposes rivals in this that she has comfortably seen off on previous occasions. Hopefully she will continue on her upward curve and take this.

15:40 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series)

Selection: Rohaan

This is a difficult race to read on form as all the market leaders have beaten one another on their day. One horse who seems to love 6f at Ascot is Rohaan; he usually wins this time of year being a dual winner of The Wokingham in 2021 and 2022. His run at Salisbury would have blown out the cobwebs and he should be ready for this.

17:35 Golden Gates Stakes (Handicap)

Selection: Knockbrex

Knockbrex was second to this week’s impressive Queen’s Vase winner, Gregory, at Haydock in April. Charlie Johnston is in excellent form on a 20% strike rate and the jockey booking of Frankie Dettori is a major draw.

18:10 Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions Race)

Selection: Stratum

He was my only winner on the Saturday of Royal Ascot last year and he was an absolute steal at 10/1. It seems the market is wise to him now and he’s well fancied; It’s not hard to see why considering how Willie Mullins has a great record targeting these races at the Royal meeting. Stratum has an excellent record at Royal Ascot having won twice and been a creditable 3rd; this really seems to be well within his comfort zone and I’ll be sticking with him again.
