Royal Ascot 2023 Day 5 LIVE RESULTS: Latest reaction as Frankie Dettori bows out from Ascot after more than 30 years

THE final day of Royal Ascot has come and gone and Frankie Dettori has said his final farewells.

The horse racing legend will call time on his illustrious career at the end of the year.

  • Thanks and goodnight

It's been one hell of a week.

We've had so many feel good stories, such as Desert Hero winning for The King and The Queen, and Shaquille doing something remarkable to give Julie Camacho her first Group 1 winner.

We can't forget all the Frankie Dettori fever, with the legendary Italian winning another Gold Cup on Courage Mon Ami.

There will be plenty of fallout in coming days, but that's it for the live blog.

Thanks to everyone who has followed along with us this week - goodnight!

  • Salute to a legend

There will only ever be one Frankie Dettori, and he's proved that this week.

He's a man who transcends the sport and we will dearly miss him once he retires later this year.

Winner of 81 races at Royal Ascot down the years, he's also the only jockey to ever ride all seven winners on a day.

Courage Mon Ami's Gold Cup win gave us another memory we won't soon forget, as Dettori bows out of Royal Ascot.

    1st: Dawn Rising 2-1f

    2nd: The Grand Visir 9-1

    3rd: Run For Oscar 3-1

  • Dawn Rising wins the Queen Alexandra

Ryan Moore was at his brilliant best there and in a race that turned into a sprint, he was always best positioned.

He's top jockey at the meeting again and salutes Frankie Dettori as he comes back in, telling ITV Racing: "He's the most beautiful of riders."

  • 6.10 Royal Ascot – Queen Alexandra Stakes

Dawn Rising commits for home off the bend and is followed in by The Grand Visir.

Typewriter gets the run of the race and nips up the inside, but he doesn't quite get home.

Dawn Rising continues to lead and he won't be denied, it's a winning favourite to end the meeting!

  • 6.10 Royal Ascot – Queen Alexandra Stakes

Dawn Rising is tanking along on the outside of Coltor as they head down the back.

Everyone seems happy enough as they head into the final mile of the race.

  • 6.10 Royal Ascot – Queen Alexandra Stakes

It's status quo as we head past the stands for the first time, with Coltor leading from Dawn Rising on the outside.

Run For Oscar, Typewriter and Falcon Eight occupy the final few positions.

  • 6.10 Royal Ascot - Queen Alexandra Stakes

    THEY'RE OFF IN THE FINALE!

Buckle in, we're here for the long haul.

No one seems very keen to go to the lead but it's Coltor who eventually goes on.

  • Final tip

Punters will be hoping the meeting ends with a desperately needed winning favourite and Templegate is hoping for the same:

DAWN RISING can take this for JP McManus.

He started off with Aidan O’Brien but moved to his son Joseph to go hurdling where he was good enough to win a Grade 3 contest.

He returned to the Flat last month to run an excellent race in a Leopardstown Group 3 where he finished strongly over 1m6f.

He was just getting going there and the extra mile of Britain’s longest Flat race should be right up his street.

  • We've made it

After a long five days, the final race of Royal Ascot is upon us.

It's been big-price winners aplenty in a hard week for punters, but as always, it's been a blast.

6.10 Royal Ascot - Queen Alexandra Stakes

    • Dawn Rising 2/1
    • Run For Oscar 11/4
    • Stratum 9/2
    • The Grand Visir 17/2
    • Falcon Eight 17/2
    • Typewriter 14/1
    • Coltor 22/1
    • First Emperor 22/1
    • Estacas 33/1
  • 5.35 Royal Ascot – Golden Gates Stakes

    Full result

    1st: Burdett Road 20-1

    2nd: Lion Of War 9-2c

    3rd: Local Dynasty 9-2

  • Burdett Road wins the Golden Gates

"It's been some journey, but I've enjoyed every minute of it," says Frankie Dettori to ITV Racing as he's led off the Royal Ascot track for the final time.

It's another excellent ride by the globetrotting Neil Callan, who won the opening race of the meeting on Triple Time.

I didn't catch it personally, but there seems to have been an injury to Canute. Thoughts are firmly with connections.

  • 5.35 Royal Ascot – Golden Gates Stakes

It's not to be for Frankie Dettori as Knockbrex quickly backs out of it at the top of the straight.

It's Burdett Road who sweeps to the lead under Neil Callan, but he's being chased home by Lion Of War.

Callan is all action and he clings on, Burdett Road wins!

  • 5.35 Royal Ascot - Golden Gates Stakes

    THEY'RE OFF!

Frankie Dettori is going to try and make all the running on Knockbrex in his final Royal Ascot race.

  • Templegate wants Moore

Plenty will be hoping for the Frankie Dettori winner to end his Royal Ascot tenure, but our man is going elsewhere:

CANUTE scored nicely in a hot contest at Navan last time and looks capable of improving out of this handicap level before long.

Despite being a bit keen, he seemed to have plenty in hand crossing the line on just his fifth lifetime run.

He is bred to be classy and can show more here for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore.

  • Frankie's Royal Ascot farewell

For the final time, we'll see Frankie Dettori on the hallowed Royal Ascot turf.

He doesn't have a ride in the concluding contest, so he'll be praying Knockbrex can give him the fairytale ending.

5.35 Royal Ascot - Golden Gates Stakes

    • Knockbrex 4/1
    • Canute 4/1
    • Lion Of War 9/2
    • Ziryab 13/2
    • Local Dynasty 9/1
    • Cuban Dawn 10/1
    • Liberty Lane 16/1
    • Londoner 20/1
    • Have Secret 20/1
    • Burdett Road 22/1
    • Laafi 25/1
    • Obelix 25/1
    • Lose Your Wad 28/1
    • James Mchenry 33/1
    • Coco Jack 33/1
  • 5.00 Royal Ascot – Wokingham Stakes

    Full result

    1st: Saint Lawrence 22-1

    2nd: Apollo One 11-1

    3rd: Juan Les Pins 18-1

    4th: Mums Tipple 11-1

  • Saint Lawrence wins the Wokingham Stakes

We've been saying how Frankie Dettori and Ryan Moore cannot be stopped this week, but add Hollie Doyle and Archie Watson to that list.

That's three wins for the duo after a typically strong and confident ride by Hollie.

  • 5.00 Royal Ascot – Wokingham Stakes

There's plenty of chances but it's Apollo One and Mums Tipple who break way first.

They look to have it between them but here comes Juan Les Pins and Saint Lawrence!

Hollie Doyle weaves her way through and wins a shade comfortably!

  • 5.00 Royal Ascot - Wokingham Stakes

    THEY'RE OFF!

They've gone without Tanmawwy who unshipped James McDonald behind the stalls and got loose.

It's fast and furious stuff, catch you in a minute!

  • Templegate's fancy

This is wide open, as expected, but Templegate is taken by one with the perfect draw:

ORAZIO is a sprinter going places and has copped an excellent high draw for this red-hot handicap.

He did well as a juvenile, finishing third in a Listed contest at Newbury.

He looked better than ever when scoring on his three-year-old debut at Newmarket before a blistering win here last month in a fast time.

They were both on softer ground but he ran well in quicker conditions last season.

He looks on a fair handicap mark and can go close under William Buick.

  • On we go

It's handicap time in the form of the Wokingham Stakes, a 28-runner burn-up over the straight 6f.

Orazio has been all the rage for trainer Charlie Hills, who landed the feature race with Khaadem.

5.00 Royal Ascot - Wokingham Stakes

    • Orazio 4/1
    • Khanjar 9/1
    • Apollo One 9/1
    • Probe 10/1

    • Mr Wagyu 20/1
    • Flaming Rib 22/1
    • Fresh 22/1
    • Chipstead 22/1
    • First Folio 25/1

    Full result

    1st: Pyledriver 7-2

    2nd: West Wind Blows 13-2

    3rd: Changingoftheguard 7-1

  • Stewards room latest

If you wanted some fireworks in the stewards room, I'm afraid you won't find any here.

Jamie Spencer has stuck up for winning rider PJ McDonald and from the clips we can see, Ryan Moore isn't getting involved.
