Wales are hoping for a successful World Cup campaign. They play Cook Islands in their opening match. Their next two matches are against Tonga and Papua New Guinea. Half of their squad is Welsh. They lost to France in June. The Dragons have not advanced past the group stage of the World Cups since 2000. All three of them are considered outsiders. It's unlikely they will advance past group stages. However, they are motivated to improve on their previous performances. There are many Welsh players in the squad. Some of whom are successful in rugby league.
