Rutgers field hockey looks to defend Big Ten tournament title

Rutgers field hockey is the only program to win a tournament title since joining the conference. Rutgers is playing Northwestern in the Big Ten tournament on Thursday. The team finished the season with an overall record of 8-9.

Rutgers finished the regular season with five wins against ranked teams, including No. 4 Northwestern, No., 14 UConn, no. 20 Ohio State and Monmouth. Rutgers beat No, 22 James Madison 3-0 last Sunday. Puck Winter was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year, Iris Langejans was All-Big Ten first-team and Rachel Houston won the Big League Sportsmanship Award.

Rutgers men's soccer team is ranked No. 2 in the Big Ten. They play Wisconsin in quarterfinals of the tournament on Friday. Rutgers finished the regular season with a 1-0 loss to UCLA.

Rutgers volleyball team is ranked NR. They lost to Illinois last Sunday. Last Friday they lost 3-1 to Indiana. They are looking to defend Big Ten tournament title. The team has a record of 7-17.

The Scarlet Knights finished 17th in the Battle at the Beach tournament in Mexico. Ten of the 17 teams that competed were ranked in top 50, including 2021 national champions Ole Miss. Head coach Kari Williams believes it was an important experience for her team.

Rutgers men's golf team finished the fall season at Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational in Vero Beach, Florida on Oct. 17. They tied for 12th place out of 15 teams with a final score of 845 (-19). Senior captain Xavier Marcoux tied with 14th with 208 (-8).

Alex Carlson finished in the top 20 at the Big Ten Championships. The Scarlet Knights finished with their lowest point total since 2016 (345) and 12th in team standings. Rutgers next competes in NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional at Penn State Blue/White Golf Courses on Friday, November 11.

Rutgers won their first-ever game against Purdue last Saturday. Martyna Piesko was named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week for swimming and diving. She won the 200 back with a time of 1:59.48. Piedko also anchored the winning 200 medley relay squad and was runner-up in four other events. Rutgers travels to Harvard on Friday and Northeastern on Saturday to continue their season.
