SALES: Strength in depth in Cheltenham catalogue 14 April 2023 Free

A DAY after the Craven Sale ends in Newmarket next week, point-to-pointers take centre stage at the Tattersalls Cheltenham April Sale.

Close to 60 horses have already been catalogued for next Thursday’s auction which will take place at 5.30pm after racing in the Tattersalls Cheltenham sales ring. Further entries will be added following this weekend’s racing.

The catalogue includes 25 winning and placed four-year-old point-to-pointers, 30 winning and placed five-year-old pointers, and one placed bumper horse.

The Grade 1-placed American Mike topped this sale in 2021 and last year’s edition was headed by the dual winner and Grade 3-placed Search For Glory. The average price paid last year was over £67,000.

All the leading Irish handlers are represented in the catalogue already, along with a handful of recent British point-to-point winners.
