San Francisco Giants at San Diego Padres odds, picks and best bets

The San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres kick off a four-game set at Petco Park on Thursday at 9:10 p.m. ET.

Trevor Cahill and Chris Paddack are the projected starting pitchers for the Giants and Padres. Cahil hasn't factored into any decisions while posting a 2.65 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. PADDack has managed a 3-4 record, 4.75 ERA, 1,25 WHip and 48 strikeouts in 47 innings.

Cahill has worked 4 or fewer innings in four of his five appearances to date. His longest outing was on August 23, when he allowed just one earned run, one hit and two walks with eight strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings.

Paddack allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks with six strikeouts in five innings at AT&T Park in San Francisco. It was his second start of the season.

The Padres are the overwhelming favorites for this series opener. San Francisco has picked up five consecutive victories to move two games over .500. The Giants are 5-1 in their past six games at Petco Park. O/U 9 is the line for the game. The GIANTS are cheaper on the run line than the Padres.
