San Francisco Giants Minor League round up, 8/8/22
The San Francisco Giants A-ball affiliates were off on Monday. However, their Rookie League and Dominican League teams were in action. A lot of new prospects made their professional debuts.
ACL Giants Orange beat the ACL Rockies 5-1 (8 innings) on Monday. Left fielder Matt Higgins (23, 2022 UDFA) had a good game. The team had 3 hits, 3 walks and only 3 runs. Center fielder Carter Howell ( 23, 2021 UD FA) also had good performance.
ACL Giants Black beat ACL D-backs Black 14-5. The team was full of new players, including 3 recently-drafted youngsters. Thomas Gavello, Wade Meckler and P.J. Hilson made their professional debuts. LHP Esmerlin Vinicio made his season debut. He struck out 2 in an inning of work. Marco Luciano played in his third rehab game.
DSL Giants Orange beat DSL Twins 9-2. GiantsOrange team had 14 hits and drew 9 walks. Juan Perez (17, 2021 J2) hit a 3-run home run. Second baseman Dennys Riera (18, 2020 J1) had a good game. Erick Arosemena (19, 2019 J3) and Jose Ramos (both 2021) also had good games.
DSL Giants Black lost to the DSL Angels 11-5. First baseman Wueslly Lespe (19, 2019 J2) was the star of the day, hitting 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. Right fielder Fabio Villadiego (18, 2020 J1) reached base 3 times.
Ryan Reckley is on the 60-day injured list. He is the team's No. 11 prospect in CPL.
