Scottish Premiership Tips: Rangers & Celtic Predictions

Elsewhere, there are important midweek matches throughout the division with just four points between Kilmarnock in fourth and Ross County in second-bottom.

We’ve looked at the best UK betting sites to highlight four bets that we’re ready to back.

Hibernian v Ross County tips

The early positive impact made by new manager Nick Montgomery at Hibernian has faded with the Easter Road team now without a win in their last four matches in all competitions.

On top of this, Hibs have drawn a blank in three of their last four games - a disappointment given the quality of attacking players at the club.

Ross County are also in poor form at the moment having gone six matches without a win in all competitions.

With the exception of Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Motherwell, they too are struggling for firepower, failing to score in three of their last five matches.

There have also been under 2.5 goals in the last five meetings between Hibernian and Ross County in all competitions.

Celtic v St Mirren tips

Celtic dropped points in the Scottish Premiership for only the second time this season as they were held to a goalless draw by Hibernian on Saturday.

This, however, was something of a statistical blip considering the Hoops had found the back of the net 18 times in their five previous matches.

Matt O’Riley is the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership right now with six goals in just 10 appearances.

St Mirren are likely to sit deep and stay compact on Wednesday and this could open up space for the Danish international to pose a goal threat from outside the box with his long-range shooting.

St Mirren will offer a threat of their own with Stephen Robinson’s team flying high in third place in the Scottish Premiership table.

However, O’Riley has been on a different level to anyone else in the league this season and will assume an even more important role now that Reo Hatate is out through injury.

Dundee v Rangers tips

While Rangers’ summer signings have faced criticism this season, Abdallah Sima has been the exception.

The on-loan Brighton attacker has scored an impressive seven goals in his last nine games in all competitions and will be a threat against Dundee on Wednesday.

Dundee have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three matches, but holding Rangers at arm’s length will be a more difficult task considering their record of nine goals in their last three Scottish Premiership outings.

Sima will pose the biggest threat to Trevor Carson’s goal at Dens Park and could be a good bet good to score any time.

Rangers are still a work-in-progress under Clement, but the Belgian manager has lifted the mood around Ibrox.

It’s unclear who will start in the Rangers attack with Danilo fit again and Cyriel Dessers starting to find his feet. Sima, however, is almost certain to feature from the start for the home team.

Hearts v Livingston tips

Steven Naismith is under increasing pressure to prove he is the right man for the job at Hearts.

The Tynecastle team are coming off the back of a difficult fixture list that included games against Hibernian, Celtic and Rangers which makes Wednesday’s clash with Livingston something of a must-win occasion.

Livingston will play the role of spoilers on Wednesday night and have experience of winning in Edinburgh this season having claimed three points away to Hibernian earlier in the campaign.

There have been under 2.5 goals in the last six meetings between Hearts and Livi, suggesting this fixture could be decided by narrow margins.
