Season Preview: Colorado School of Mines Football

Colorado School of Mines football team is coming off its best year in program history. The team's favorite game is the Division II national championship on December 17 in McKinney, Texas. Mines is a school where academics, not athletics, rule. Most of the team’s 100-plus student-athletes had a summer internship this year. The Orediggers are in the top five in preseason national rankings. They are favorites to win the RMAC title. Michael Zeman, Mines” star running back, will graduate in December with a master's degree in engineering and technology management.

Michael Zeman was a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist last season. He averaged nearly 25 carries per game and had 1,608 yards from scrimmage.

John Matocha is a senior quarterback from Magnolia, Texas. He threw 38 touchdown passes and rushed for another seven for the Orediggers last season. Matachula ranked third in DII in completion percentage, eighth in passing efficiency, fifth in touchdowns, and 15th in yards.

Nolan Reeve is a preseason All-American linebacker for Colorado School of Mines. Reece recently earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
