SEC College Football Conference Winner Prediction 2023

The SEC is the most dominant conference in all of college football as the last four National Champions reside in the South. The reigning two time defending National Champion Georgia Bulldogs are the odds-on favorite to again reign supreme in the SEC. Several big-time contenders will compete with Georgia for the top of the mountain making the SEC the most competitive conference in all of college football.

Tennessee +1400

Auburn +4000

Ole Miss +4000

Missouri +20000

Kentucky +20000

Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs have dominated college football for the last two seasons winning 29 out of 30 games resulting in two National Championships. The Bulldogs will have a new look on both sides of the ball, but their depth and talent will again reign supreme. Despite a new quarterback under center and a new look defense the Georgia Bulldogs will be a top team in the nation. Georgia has everything needed to win the SEC for a second consecutive year as the best team in the conference.

Alabama

The Alabama Crimson Tide come into the 2023 season in unchartered waters with a ton of unanswered questions. Alabama still has an abundance of talent but have yet to put it all together. Alabama will have a new quarterback and a new offensive coordinator leading the way but has the talent and depth to succeed. Defensively the Crimson Tide will again be a top tier team as that side of the ball will anchor the team. Alabama is going to win a lot of games and compete at the top of the SEC in 2023 but as far as they go is yet to be determined.

LSU

The LSU Tigers are primed and ready to roll coming into the 2023 season. LSU has their sights set on the SEC title and much like Georgia and Alabama have the talent to do so. Quarterback Jayden Daniels is again ready to step into the limelight as the leader of the LSU offense. The Tigers are loaded on the offensive side of the ball and will have one of the best defenses in the conference. With a date in Tuscaloosa at the end of the season LSU has the chance to decide their own fate. If the Tigers can put it all together it is very likely they compete at the end of the year and the SEC title game.

Texas A&M

Texas A&M comes off a 2022 season full of disappointment. The Aggies started as a top 10 ranked team and finished the year without a bowl appearance. Bobby Petrino will have a lot of say in the success of the Aggies this year as he will be running the offense. Texas A&M has a talented young core on the offense that has the potential to surprise the country. The defensive side of the ball had a few issues last year, but the talent and depth are there. The Aggies will look to put it all together in 2023 to make noise in the SEC.

Tennessee

The Tennessee Volunteers had one of their best years in recent memory a year ago with double digit wins including a victory over Alabama. The Volunteers have closed the gap with themselves and the elite in the SEC but have a chance to struggle this year. Tennessee lost several huge pieces from a year ago including their quarterback Hendon Hooker. Tennessee must figure out who to put where as both sides of the ball will be lacking key players from a year ago. Tennessee will be good again in the future but are unlikely to compete at the top of the SEC in 2023.

Auburn

Hugh Freeze is soon to make his debut as the Auburn head coach looking to turn the team around from the last few seasons. Freeze has already brought in an abundant number of transfers to boost the Auburn roster on both sides of the ball. Offensively Auburn averaged barely 24 points per game and will look to improve that number with their new faces. The Tigers are heading in a new direction and will see a minimum of six wins this season, but it is yet to be determined their success in the SEC.

Ole Miss

Ole Miss started 2022 appearing as a real contender at 7-0 at one point. Following the huge start Ole Miss declined immensely losing five games including their bowl. Head coach Lane Kiffin will look to move the pieces accordingly this season to sustain the success from the beginning of last year. Ole Miss cashed in heavy in the transfer portal to add to an already strong roster. The Rebels have the talent and depth on both sides of the ball but putting it all together will determine their outcome in the SEC this season.

Florida

The Florida Gators are going to be another team amid a rebuild after losing key players including their starting quarterback, Anthony Richardson. Florida will rely heavily on a couple of top tier running backs as the quarterback position is still in limbo. Defensively the Gators will have an issue as they were a bottom feeder in the SEC last season. Florida has a lot of issues and a lot of work to do as they will likely be in the middle of the SEC.

South Carolina

The South Carolina Gamecocks have improved over the last two seasons as they are clearly heading in the right direction. Quarterback Spencer Rattler is a huge piece for South Carolina this season as he holds the keys to their success. South Carolina did win several unexpected games last year and will look to build off that success in 2023. The Gamecocks have a chance to ruffle some feathers and possibly pull off an upset but won't compete for the SEC title. South Carolina is still going up coming into this year but have a ways to go to reach the top.

Arkansas

Coming into the 2023 season the Arkansas Razorbacks focus is the defensive side of the ball. The Razorbacks will welcome back their star quarterback and running back to lead the offense. Defensively Arkansas was terrible last year allowing nearly 31 points per game resulting in an abysmal season. The Razorbacks have added a ton of players this offseason to boost their defense in 2023. If the Razorbacks can get their defense on the same level as the offense Arkansas has a chance to make noise within the conference.

Mississippi State

The biggest difference for Mississippi State this season will be the tutelage of new coach Zach Arnett. The Bulldogs are expected to be a more balanced attack this season under their new coach but still have an elite level quarterback in Will Rogers. Rogers will have the keys to the team this season as the fate of their years in his hands. Defensively Mississippi State was strong last year and will look to repeat that trend this season. The Bulldogs have enough to make some noise and should see a bowl game, but the top of the SEC is likely unreachable.

Missouri

The Missouri Tigers have the potential to be somewhat of a dark horse in the SEC this season. Kirby Moore has a chance to thrive as a quarterback of a team that averaged nearly 25 points per game last season. Defensively Missouri was fantastic as well and will return a ton of that group. The Tigers have the pieces on both sides of the ball to cause a ruckus in the middle of the SEC. It is unlikely Missouri will compete at the top but has a chance to affect seeding for multiple teams.

Kentucky

The Kentucky Wildcats fell off in a big way last year finishing one game above .500 overall. Will Levis is gone to the NFL, but transfer Liam Coen will be under center for the Wildcats this season. The Wildcats have several huge weapons on the offensive side of the ball that will make an immediate impact for the team. Kentucky should expect a better outcome in 2023 than that of a year ago but still will be a middle of the pack SCC team. Kentucky is moving in the right direction but 2023 is not their year.

Vanderbilt

The Vanderbilt Commodores come off last season after nearly obtaining a Bowl berth. Vanderbilt has a lot of questions coming into this year as quarterback AJ Swann will be the leader. Swann will have to rely more so on his passing attack after Vanderbilt lost their stud running back. The Commodores must improve on the defensive side of the ball if they are to have any success this season. Vanderbilt has a ton of questions left to answer but could have a promising season if everything can line up.

The Georgia Bulldogs are the reigning 2 time defending College Football National Champions and have all the pieces in place to get it done again. The Bulldogs will have to get through the toughest conference in football to do so but have the ability to do so. Alabama and LSU have the talent and depth to make a run at the top but the conference is Georgia's to lose. Expect a few close games throughout the year but it will again be Georgia at the top when the dust settle. SEC Winner Prediction, Georgia Bulldogs.
