Serie A Power Rankings: Juventus' expectations heightened with Pogba and Di Maria; AC Milan still at the top

The new Serie A season starts in a month. AC Milan is still the top team. The summer transfer window closes on September 1. The 20 Serie a teams are as things stand one month before the official kickoff.

Juventus and AC Milan are the top two teams in Serie A this season.

AC Milan won the Scudetto last season. New ownership arrived in late May. American private investment firm RedBird Capital signed a preliminary agreement to purchase the 19-time Serie A champions. Gerry Cardinale, the firm's founder, took charge and is putting his imprint on the club. Paolo Maldini and sporting director Frederic Massara stayed at the team. Milan lost midfielder Franck Kessie to FC Barcelona.

Inter Milan failed to win a back-to-back Scudetto last season under coach Simone Inzaghi. Inter Milan signed goalkeeper Andre Onana, Raoul Bellanova, Kristjan Asllani and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Arturo Vidal, Matias Vecino, Andrea Ranocchia and Stefano Sensi left the club. Milan Skriniar and Alexis Sanchez are likely to leave the team.

Juventus signed Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria on free transfer. Massimiliano Allegri will count on Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Chiesa and Matthijs de Ligt. Juventus is picking up the pieces after the departures of Giorgio Chiellini, Federica Bernardeschi and Paulo Dybala.

Lorenzo Insigne left his club to join Toronto FC. Kalidou Koulibaly is set to leave Napoli for Chelsea for €40 million. AC Milan are still the top team in Serie A.

Jose Mourinho's team won the UEFA Conference League last May. AS Roma signed Nemanja Matic and Zeki Celik as free agents. Juventus are in talks to sign Nicolò Zaniolo. Paulo Dybala is also a target for Juventus. Inter Milan and Napoli are interested in signing Dyba.

Lazio have signed a goalkeeper, three center backs and a free agent this summer. Maurizio Sarri may no longer have his hands full as Lazio lacked continuity in the early stages of last season.

Fiorentina signed Luka Jovic from Real Madrid. Vincenzo Italiano extended his contract with the club. Fiorendina finished seventh last season.

Atalanta failed to qualify to any European competitions and some players are expected to leave the club in the coming weeks. Ederson was bought from Salernitana for €15 million.

The teams are going to stay in the league but have no chance to play in European competitions next season.

Alessio Dionisi is the new manager of Sassuolo. Several European clubs are interested in signing Gianluca Scamacca. Neroverdi signed 21-year-old Uruguayan forward Alvarez Martinez.

Ivan Juric is known to pressure his front office when it comes to transfer business. Torino defender Gelson Bremer could be headed to Inter Milan. Club captain Andrea Belotti is already out the door as a free agent.

Andrea Sottil was appointed as Udinese manager after Gabriele Cioffi joined Hellas Verona. Most of the roster is the same from last season.

Hellas Verona is 12th in Serie A. Udinese is waiting for some summer signings. Giovanni Simeone is on the list of many clubs in and out of Italy.

Giovanni Sartori is the new technical director of Bologna. Sinisa Mihajlovic hopes SARTORI will bring some fresh talent to the club. BOLOGNA finished 13th last season.

After selling AC Milan, Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani bought Monza. Monzo is playing in the third division. They have signed Matteo Pessina from Atalanta, Alessio Cragno from Cagliari, Stefano Sensi on loan from Inter Milan and Andrea Ranocchia as a free agent.

Juventus and AC Milan are the current Serie A leaders.

Empoli lost their manager Aurelio Andreazzoli and hired Paolo Zanetti. Andrea Pinamonti left the club after the end of his loan spell. Inter Milan signed midfielder Kristjan Asllani. Mattia Destro is a replacement for Pin amonto at striker.

Thiago Motta left the club and Luca Gotti was appointed as Spezia's new manager. Speza are ahead of other clubs in the Serie A power rankings.

Salernitana are trying to avoid relegation this season. Morgan De Sanctis took charge of the transfer market and has already made some interesting moves to acquire striker Erik Botheim from Krasnodar and defender Mattia Lovato from Atalanta.

Sampdoria is looking to sell the club. The ownership is working on loans and swap deals. They can't afford a real budget for the summer transfer window.

Lecce is back in Serie A, but the team needs to improve to avoid relegation. Lececia signed Lorenzo Colombo from AC Milan.

Cremonese are 20th in Serie A. They play in the Italian second division. Cremone need more experience and players that have already played in first division to avoid relegation.
