Hewick won the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown's feature race at odds of 16-1. John "Shark" Hanlon bought him for £800 in the sales. He prepared £600 mare Skyace for a Grade 1 victory. The previous Irish-trained winners of the bet 365 Gold cup were Church Island (2010, Michael Hourigan, Jack High, Ted Walsh, Life Of A Lord, Aidan O’Brien, Drumlargan (1983, Edward O'Grady) and Arkle (1965, Tom Dreaper).
