Sharks reach settlement with Evander Kane over grievance following his release

The San Jose Sharks and Evander Kane reached a settlement on Friday. Kane was released by the Sharks in January. He signed with the Edmonton Oilers and played there during the postseason. The deal is expected to address the gap between the final three years of Kane's previous contract with Sharks, and the next three seasons of his current deal with Oilers. If the termination had been upheld, the team would have been free from the $19 million in cash owed to Kane over the past three. If they lost the grievance, Kane would be back on the roster on his previous deal. Sharks general manager Mike Grier hopes the process will be over soon.
