Sixers vs. Celtics prediction and odds for Game 2 (Trust Boston to bounce back)

The Boston Celtics couldn’t stop James Harden (45 points) in Game 1 of their second-round series with the Philadelphia 76ers, losing at home for the second time this postseason.

Now, Boston needs a win in Game 2 with Joel Embiid inching closer to a return to the lineup. Embiid missed Game 1 with a knee sprain that he suffered against the Brooklyn Nets.

For now, it seems like Embiid will be listed as doubtful for Game 2.

With that in mind, can Boston win convincingly to take some momentum with it back for Philly in Game 3.

Here’s a look at the latest odds and my best bet for this matchup:

Sixers vs. Celtics prediction and pick

The Celtics shot over 58 percent from the field in Game 1, attacking the basket at will, but they simply couldn’t defend, giving up 17 3-pointers to Philly.

I think Joe Mazzulla’s group comes with more defensive resolve in Game 2, especially if Embiid sits.

The Celtics saw the Sixers struggle with rim protection with Paul Reed at center, and they also dominated the rebound battle in Game 1 (38-28).

As was the issue last postseason, Boston turned the ball over 16 times in Game 1 while forcing just six turnovers for Philly.

I expect that number to even out a bit in Game 2, and I’d be shocked if Boston gets beaten by seven shots in the 3-point department again.

Laying nine points is a lot, but as long as Embiid doesn’t play, I think Boston bounces back in Game 2.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
