Soderblom, Red Wings Playing Waiting Game

Elmer Soderblom was selected in the final cutdown of the Detroit Red Wings roster. He's sharing time on the fourth line with Oskar Sundqvist and Pius Suter. If he or Joe Veleno can't get regular ice time, they might be sent to the Grand Rapids Griffins. The Griffens play their first game of this season on Friday.

Soderblom is getting some power-play time during Tuesday's practice. His coach, Bob Lalonde, wants him to play more if he wants to stay with the Red Wings long term. SoderBlom scored 21 goals in the SHL last season with Frolunda.

Soderblom could get an opportunity to play if Sundqvist can't. Sundovsk hasn't played any games this season due to a chronic knee ailment. Lalonde will evaluate his condition this week.

Soderblom is preparing for his first NHL regular-season game. He is aware that it could all change at a moment's notice.
