Soumillon salutes super-tough Perfect Power in brave win

Christophe Soumillon rode Perfect Power to victory in the Commonwealth Cup. The horse was several lengths behind at halfway but rallied to win by a length and a quarter. Perfect power won the Norfolk Stakes by one head last year and the Group 1 Prix Morny and Middle Park Stake as a two-year-old.  Perfect Power finished seventh in 2,000 Guineas on his first attempt at a mile. Soumillon was six or seven lengths back at the two furlongs marker but he was able to turn the horse around in last 150 metres.

Richard Fahey and Christophe Soumillon discuss Perfect Power's Commonwealth Cup success.

Perfect Power won the Royal Ascot race. Trainer Richard Fahey is proud of his horse. Flaming Rib finished second. The July Cup is a possibility for Faheys' horse, but it's too soon to commit to a plan. He could go for the Prix Maurice de Gheest. Michael Owen is very proud. The winner Flotus was beaten by a horse he didn't know.
