Scunthorpe United are bottom of the National League. Peter Swann, majority shareholder since 2013, is seeking a way out of a club that has eaten up over £20 million of his wealth. The club is losing around £100,000 a month in the league. Two local businessmen watched from the directors' box against Maidenhead. Simon Elliott and Ian Sharp were supposed to buy Scunstorpes on December 1. However, the deal fell apart. The taxman served a winding up petition this week.
