Sportsbooks win big on Dallas flop against Packers

The nightmare on Jerry’s street was a party for the bookies.

The aftermath of the Packers’ shocking win isn’t just bad news for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the rest of the Dallas brain trust — it was a complete disaster for bettors who hammered the favorite throughout the week.

“The Cowboys losing was the best result,” Christian Cipollini, Trading Manager at BetMGM Sportsbook, told The Post.

Not including what was likely a massive parlay liability, BetMGM tells us that 70 percent of spread money was on the Cowboys -7, while 64 percent of the moneyline liability was also on Dallas.

Interestingly enough, BetMGM added that 34 percent of the moneyline bets were on the Cowboys but 64 percent of the money came in.

This data points to significant wagers being placed on the Cowboys.

The weekend in its entirety was a success for the books, as underdogs were barking throughout. Typically, the public bettor wagers on the favorites.

Prior to the weekend, Cipollini told The Post that just “one or two dogs covering” would be a good outcome for BetMGM and that a “Packers, Steelers, or Texans win would be ideal.”

Well, two of those came to fruition in the way of a blowout, as the Texans smashed Joe Flacco and the Cleveland Browns and the Packers made quick work of their old friend, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy.

And there’s still one of those games left to play, with the Bills-Steelers being rescheduled to Monday afternoon.

BetMGM tells The Post that 55 percent of the spread handle is on the Bills -10 at home in Highmark Stadium.

That number has likely changed dramatically as the game will no longer be played in a winter wonderland as was expected in the lead-up to Wild Card Weekend.

Snow is still in the forecast Monday, but just snow showers and not the blizzard that came down on Buffalo throughout the day Sunday.

Fans have been clearing the stadium of snow for hours in an attempt to get the field ready for the playoff matchup.
