Spring racing 2022: Racing NSW and Racing Victoria must work together after successful Champions Day, Melbourne Cup, The Everest, Golden Eagle meetings

Horse racing has taken back its rightful place as king of the spring. Sydney and Melbourne's competing carnivals have grown the sport. The Golden Eagle has added another day when Rosehill can be filled. Melbourne has lifted its prizemoney for the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Flemington features. Racing NSW and Racing Victoria need to work together to complement the target races and program. They need the best to race against the worst more often. It will drive the sports forward. They should work on Champions Day, Melbourne Cup and The Everest. In 2022, RacingNSW and racingVic will work to create a unified program for all the racing carnival.

There was a skew in Melbourne Cup betting because of the promotion by new bookie Betr. Betrs wanted to limit their risk on Deauville Legend. The promotion constrained the supply and demand market around the favourite.
