Spurs vs. Pistons prediction and odds for NBA Summer League

Victor Wembanyama’s time at Summer League is done, but the Spurs have more games, including Friday against the Pistons in a battle of 2-1 teams.

The Spurs got a big outing from second year pro Malaki Branham, who scored 29 points in Tuesday’s win, and will look to outpace the Pistons young core that is leaning on Ausar Thompson to lead the way after shutting down the likes of Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren.

Here are the odds for Friday night’s matchup:

Spurs vs. Pistons odds, spread and total

Spread:

  • Spurs: +4.5 (-110)
  • Pistons: -4.5 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • Spurs: +150
  • Pistons: -195

Total: 181.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

Spurs vs. Pistons prediction and pick

The Pistons won in its prior game, 94-90 against the Raptors, but Toronto hit only three of 25 three-point shots. I expect the Spurs to bring a bit more offensive pop with NBA-level talent like Branham, Blake Wesley and Julian Champagnie, who combined to score 61 points in a 96-85 win against the Wizards.

Detroit scored 101 in a loss to the Rockets, but also scored 89 in its first game against the Magic as the offense has been inconsistent in Las Vegas. San Antonio has opened up its offense without Wembanyama and I believe can replicate its performance on Tuesday and outpace Detroit.

Thompson may have the highest billing of the game as the No. 5 pick in the draft, but the Spurs have more depth to challenge the Pistons. I disagree that Detroit should be favored, but make sure to confirm that the Spurs are going to be rolling out the aforementioned three prospects before locking in your bet.

PICK: Spurs ML +150
