Victor Wembanyama props vs. Suns

Victor Wembanyama has had some moments that have made it clear why the Spurs took him with the No. 1 pick. But, at the same time, there have been times during his first week in the NBA when he has looked like a rookie — overwhelmed.

That is not to say he has not lived up to the hype; it's too soon to make that kind of judgment. But since he is the star everyone wants to see, we will focus on his player props vs. the Suns.

  • Points total: Over ; Under 15.5 -104 (Caesars): He's a young player with a lot to learn about playing in the NBA. But he is also the focal point of the offense for the Spurs. The Suns have been a solid defensive team so far this season, but they give up a lot of points in the paint—which is where Wembanyama can thrive.
  • Total rebounds: Over ; Under 6.5 rebounds -148 (Caesars): Teams with solid veteran talent have succeeded in limiting his rebounding numbers (five vs. Mavericks and Clippers). Bradley Beal has been ruled out, and Devin Booker is doubtful.
  • Total blocks: Over ; Under 1.5 +118 (Caesars): Stay away from his total blocks prop. He had just one against the Mavericks and Clippers and three vs. the Rockets. At -163, there is no value in taking the Over. It may be tempting to take the Under, but since he is supposed to be an excellent shot blocker, you are better off betting on a different market.
  • Points + rebounds: Over ; Under 22.5 -123 (Caesars): If you feel confident that Webanyama will go over his points (15.5) and rebound (6.5) totals, consider going with this market. You'll need just one additional point/rebound, and the payout is better.

Spurs vs. Suns analysis: Kevin Durant enough to lead Suns past Spurs

There is a level of excitement around the Spurs this season, but not because of high expectations. No, it's all for the No. 1 draft pick, Victor Wembanyama.

Three games into his NBA career, we have seen flashes of the excellence talked about leading up to the draft. But he has yet to be the game-changer who can lead the Spurs out of the Western Conference cellar.

There is no reason to think he can't become that guy. But the roster around him is subpar, and he's got a lot to learn about the NBA game.

He could learn a thing or two playing against Kevin Durant, of course. Beal is out, and if Booker is too, the team will probably look to him to turn the game into a clinic. He is certainly capable of taking over a game on his own.

But even without Booker and Beal, the Suns have enough complimentary pieces around Durant, i.e., Eric Gordon, Grayson Allen, etc. If they can get on track along with Durant, the Suns may be more than the Spurs can handle.

Spurs vs. Suns predictions and bets to consider

Bettors looking for some action on this game may want to give this a peek:

  • Victor Wembanyama, Points + rebounds: Over  If he has a decent night on the boards and scoring, he can produce enough to go over the total. With Beal out and Booker doubtful, the outlook is a promising one for the Spurs rookie.
  • Suns

Kevin Durant can generate enough offense to get the Suns past the Spurs by at least seven points.
