After Dallas picked up the win on Saturday, these teams will meet once again tonight. Although the Stars got the best of the Kraken two nights ago, our NHL betting picks can't see history repeating itself.

The Seattle Kraken and Dallas Stars are meeting for the second straight game after facing one another on Saturday night. Dallas came out victorious two night’s ago, but it did take overtime for it to get the job done.

Seattle certainly deserved a better outcome on Saturday and I thought it was the better team in that game, but one of the hardest things to do in the NHL is beat a team back-to-back.

The Seattle Kraken haven’t been as consistent post All-Star break, but they are starting to feel the other teams creep up on them in the standings so they need to tighten up their game. They’ve now lost two straight — both by one goal — and honestly should have won both of those games. Even in those losses they should still feel confident about how they’re playing.

Seattle has been one of the top offensive teams in the league all year, currently the fifth best, averaging 3.52 goals per game. However, the Dallas Stars happen to be the fifth best defensive team in the league, only allowing 2.65 goals per game.

The Stars have exploded offensively as of late, scoring a whopping 30 goals in their last five games, but this scoring rate they are at is in no way sustainable.

The Kraken are playing their third game in four nights and are 5-1 in their last six games in this situation. I believe they will get a better result tonight and I think this is a good spot for them as a home underdog.

Stars vs Kraken moneyline analysis

The Stars have won a lot of hockey games as of late — winning six out of their last eight games — but they haven’t necessarily been playing their best brand of hockey in that span. Dallas is a very strong defensive team but has been allowing a ton of goals lately, it is just being overshadowed by its offensive production.

Jake Oettinger hasn’t been at his best, but he is 3-1-0 in his last four starts. In that span he is sporting a 3.70 GAA and a .886 SV%. The Kraken were able to score three goals on him in the last meeting and should be able to once again.

Philipp Grubauer has gotten the last five starts for Seattle, going 3-1-1 in that span. Grubauer has been better than Oettinger in the recent stretch and I expect him to have a strong bounce back game.

The Kraken have been solid on home ice all season, and I believe the Stars haven’t been as good as their recent record shows. This is a good spot for Seattle.

Stars vs Kraken Over/Under analysis

Both of these teams have been playing in some very high-scoring games as of late. In fact, they have hit the Over a combined eight straight games. The Stars last five straight games have all gone Over and the Kraken’s last three games have been the same.

The goaltenders on both sides are both typically two of the better goalies in the league, but they have not been at their best as of late. Dallas and Seattle are both in the Top 10 in scoring, with the Kraken sitting fifth and the Stars sitting eighth.

Both teams have struggled on the defensive end and we saw it a bit in Saturday night’s game, I don’t trust either team defensively right now, so we should see another high-scoring affair. Go with the Over.
