Stradivarius' history bid falls short as new staying superstar Subjectivist wins Ascot Gold Cup

The highlight of the card is the Gold Cup at 4.15pm with Stradivarius looking to equal the legendary Yeats' record of four in a row.

The weather is a concern for trainers ahead of today's Ascot Gold Cup. Stradivarius and Trueshan are favourites to win the race. Mark Johnston is more concerned about the weather for his flight.   The winner of the Gold cup will be either Stradoivarian or Trueshan. The other winner will probably be Frankie Dettori. It is not clear if there will even be rain at Ascott today. There is some concern about it tomorrow. A lot of horses are trained on soft ground. This year's Gold championship is the first time it has been held in the summer.
