Stylish Memphis will have to do a Think Big on Saturday night

Champion Kiwi mare Stylish Memphis will have to do a "Think Big" to complete a three-peat in Australasia's biggest mares race at Menangle on Saturday night.

Think Big famously completed back-to-back Melbourne Cup wins in 1974-75, but didn't win a race in between victories.

Stylish Memphis has gone winless in 12 starts since she won the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Mile (formerly Ladyship Mile) at Menangle on February 26, last year.

Adding to the theatre is the fact this will be Stylish Memphis' last race start. She is in foal to buzz stallion Captaintreacherous.

Trainer Jack Trainor concedes the odds are against Stylish Memphis this time.

"She's a six-year-old now and she's not quite going as well as she was last year," he said. "She's been good with three placings in three runs since coming across from NZ this time, but she's just not quite as sharp.

"I'd have to say it's also the strongest field she's met. There are some outstanding mares in it and a lot of depth.

"She's up against it, but you can never discount horses as good as her. They are the ones who defy the odds."

Stylish Memphis will look for a three-peat on Saturday night.

Trainor will drive Stylish Memphis, but admits stablemate Braeview Kelly is his best chance.

"She's younger and on the way up," he said. "She's been fantastic winning both runs back from a spell. She's really gone to another level this campaign."

Young gun NSW freelancer Cam Hart will drive Braeview Kelly.

At least the barrier draw has been kind to Stylish Memphis. She has gate eight, but her main rivals have all drawn outside her: Amore Vita (nine), Braeview Kelly (11) and Tough Tilly (12).

Tough Tilly and Amore Vita add some serious interstate flavour from Emma Stewart and Clayton Tonkin's powerhouse Victorian stable.

Tough Tilly qualified for the race with an arrogant win at Menangle last Saturday night, while Amore Vita booked her spot with a supreme staying effort to win the Ladyship Cup at Melton on February 4.

Chris Alford will drive Amore Vita with Mark Pitt aboard Tough Tilly.

Victorian raider Soho Seraphine faces a huge task in Saturday night's Group 1 NSW Oaks from the outside draw (gate 12).

Kiwi star and impressive heat winner Kahlua Flybye also drew wide in barrier 10.
