Hong Kong champion Lucky Sweynesse is unlikely to contest the $15m The TAB Everest at Royal Randwick in October.

Lucky Sweynesse, the world's highest rated sprinter, has been on the radar of at least two Everest slot-holders since his win in the Chairman's Sprint Prize at Sha Tin last month.

But it is understood the reluctance of connections to commit to The Everest are due to restrictive quarantine protocols, travel schedule difficulties and a desire to have their super sprinter at his peak for the Group 1 Hong Kong International Sprint in December.

Zac Purton, Hong Kong's premier rider, said last month he felt Lucky Sweynesse was good enough to compete in The Everest particularly after partnering defending champion Giga Kick into second placing behind I Wish I Win in the TJ Smith Stakes at Royal Randwick during The Championships.

Lucky Sweynesse's trainer Manfred Man and owners are thought to be considering aiming their super sprinter at a Group 1 race in Japan in late September.

If Lucky Sweynesse is set for the Japanese sprint, it would rule out any chance of the Hong Kong speed freak contesting The Everest.

In latest TAB Fixed Odds betting for The Everest, run at Royal Randwick on October 14, Lucky Sweynesse is rated at $6 behind only Giga Kick ($3.50 favourite) and I Wish I Win ($5).

Meanwhile, Australian jockeys dominated the finish of the Group 1 Champions and Chater Cup at Sha Tin on Sunday night when Hall of Fame jockey Hugh Bowman partnered Russian Emperor to a fast-finishing win over Purton's mount, the long odds-on favourite Romantic Warrior.

Over in Japan Damian Lane cleaned up winning four races including the Group 1 AUD$7m Japanese Derby aboard Tastiera.
